Menard the Desert Shadow
He slinks across the sand, scales sliding against the fine grains. The air is hot as it enters one’s lungs, a place that is mean and therefore those that live here must be meaner. The desert does not forgive, it is not kind. But oh is it beautiful, just as beautiful as this king that watches over the multicolored skies. Cactus reach toward the burning oranges as if to praise the reprieve of coming night. His scales will cool and he will sleep under the cover of an endless night. A starry sky uninterrupted. The sunset paints colors in his slitted eyes. He wanders across this land a silent being and he too is dangerous. But for now his fangs remain hidden, there is no need for violence here. Not in the quiet and the beauty of the warm desert landscape. For he is as much a lover as he his a bringer of death.
